Their leadership and participation are therefore critical in solving this global crisis. It aims to inspire leaders, influence decisions, foster innovation, and raise awareness of critical urban issues by encouraging research and action at the interface between gender, cities and climate change. Creating and strengthening female leadership in contexts of deep socio-economic inequalities, where gender inequality is constantly reinforced by behavioral and cultural patterns, is challenging.
Consequently, actions, projects, plans, and public policies to address climate change are still not very sensitive to gender Stadslab Masterclass Teresina issues, reinforcing a vicious circle in which climate change magnifies inequity and inequiy is an obstacle to tackleclimate change.
From this perspective, Women For Climate Teresina aims to increase the adaptative capacity of girls and women to climate change by acting directly on the social perception of their roles both as groups of greater vulnerability and as protagonists in facing climate change.
The overall objective of this project is to build female leaders capacity of accelerating local transformations. This involves strengthening their adaptive capacity, that is, to increase their potential, capacity or ability to adapt to climate change and its local effects. What is the best way to translate into words these very intense working days, that I am honoured to have shared with a diverse group of international experts?
Although, it was very short, I have gained an immeasurable amount of knowledge and experience. I would recommend to all urban planners to get out of the comfort zone and challenge themselves into a Stadslab Master Class adventure. Its Master Class program has been designed to be a training program for professionals in urbanism related fields.
